The Need
The human cost of homelessness is staggering. Decades of lives lost, families broken, talents wasted and dignity denied take their toll.
The financial cost is staggering too. It actually costs more not to house people than to house them.
It is estimated that it costs $55,000 each year in health and social service costs to care for a homeless person compared to only $37,000 when housing and supportive services are provided.*
Morally and pragmatically, we need to act.

Make a gift to support our daily work
The 127 Society must raise money to pay its share of the Community Worker program and to develop programs for vulnerable elderly tenants. The Community Workers help tenants live as responsible, friendly neighbours. Aging tenants need support to help them stay in their apartments as long as possible.
The Province of BC through BC Housing, the Federal Government through CMHC, and the City of Vancouver cover the costs of constructing and operating the buildings.
